Laura Green - Principal & Founder
From the age of sixteen I trained for three years at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester on the Professional Dance Teachers Course. Beforehand I had attended the school as an Associate from the age of 5 so the love of dance has been inbred in me all my life.
Upon graduating with my diploma and all my teaching qualifications in 1997 I was offered a job dancing aboard Carnival Cruise Lines which I accepted. During my four years with the company I traveled extensively throughout America and the Caribbean performing on a number of Carnival’s Cruise Liners. Throughout this time I assisted in the choreography of shows and was also given the position of lead adage dancer. In between contracts I gained teaching experience by freelance teaching at a number of dance schools throughout the Northwest ,returning on several occasions to guest teach at the Northern Ballet School .During this time I also took over the running of the Francine Garton School of Dance whilst Mrs Garton was away on Maternity leave. I decided to leave Carnival Cruise Lines in November 2001 to pursue my teaching career and fulfil my lifetime dream of opening The L.A. School of Dance. My wish and aim is that the school will prove to be a huge success producing an excellent standard of young dancers for myself as a teacher and you as parents to be proud of. Foremost I want the children to have FUN and enjoy what they are learning , so smiles are compulsory in my lessons!!!!
Since the school opened in 2002 we have achieved a 100% pass rate in both R.A.D. Ballet, I.S.T.D. Tap and Modern exams. This high standard of achievement is due to a combination of a high standard of teaching and plenty of personal attention. My ethos is to keep class sizes small to create a more personable, learning environment, which helps to promote an excellent teacher/student relationship. This ensures that my pupils get my undivided attention. The school has thrived since day one on maintaining a very friendly, family orientated atmosphere and the welfare of my students is of the utmost importance to me. The L.A. School of Dance maintains a strong presence in the community through regular stage productions and charity performances.
As parents I look forward to meeting you all personally and getting you all involved with the school, creating a fun ,family atmosphere that both parents and myself will be proud to be a part of.
Kind Regards
Miss Laura
